Niskin-Type (Closure) Water Sampler

The Niskin-type (Closure) Water Sampler, also known as the Niskin sampler, is a piece of marine water body sampling equipment. Its core design includes a sampling cylinder with upper and lower caps. When lowered, both caps are open, allowing water to flow through. Upon reaching the target depth, a messenger weight triggers the mechanism to close instantly, capturing the water sample from that layer. This mechanical design requires no power and is suitable for deep-sea environments, helping to reduce sample contamination. It is mainly used in marine and lake scientific research and environmental monitoring.
